The Citizen recordmaster was released around mid 1967 and became the first chronograph type production model to be manufactured by the Citizen watch company. It later proved to be the only hand winding chronograph movement ever produced by the citizen watch company. The manufacture period of the Citizen recordmaster was a short 5 years from 1967 - 1972 however despite this a surprisingly large number of different variants of the Citizen recordmaster were produced.
For someone trying to educate themselves on all things Citizen recordmaster the task is extremely difficult. Bits of information can be found here and there around the internet along with a small amount of images that may or may not show a correct original example of the watch in question. Combine that with some very subtle differences between certain variants in the dial, hands or bracelet one can easily be left with more questions than answers.
The information provided on this website is the culmination of 100's of hours spent on the researching and collecting of Citizen recordmasters. It is an attempt to unravel the mysteries and to collate all that information into one place to provide a useful tool for anyone wanting to better understand what to look out for when buying a Citizen recordmaster.
It should be noted that whilst much of the information provided on this website can be supported by original images and or other publications there is also a portion of information where no other documents can be found and therefore contains some logical conclusions derived from multiple observations of the exact same detail in a number of examples of a particular variant. There are also a couple of cases where there is simply no other information to be found and the information presented is just a description of what is thought to be the case.
